Tooth Extraction

While it is usually preferable to keep your natural teeth as long as possible, there are several reasons the dentist may recommend removing a tooth entirely from the socket in your jaw. This is called an extraction.

  • Your jaw may not have enough room to accommodate the tooth. If not removed, it could become impacted. As a result food can accumulate around the impacted tooth and consequently become painful. This is the primary reason why many people have their wisdom teeth removed.
  • The tooth may impair the ability of surrounding teeth to come in properly. Children occasionally need to have a largely decayed baby tooth removed.
  • Sometimes a tooth may reach such a serious state of decay that no repair can fix it. In this case the only option is extraction.

The dental surgeons of Smile Line Specialist Dental Care are well trained in current practices, and well experienced with extracting teeth. We know your concerns, and work to ensure this procedure is performed as gently as possible.
